Health is on the top of everyone’s mind because of the THC vaping crisis that has been in the media in Canada and the US. The good news is that none of the deaths happened here in Canada – it was all siloed in the US. The CDC recently released a statement that the most likely culprit was vitamin E. The good news is that now we know what it is that caused the illness and deaths.
As we have mentioned before, we have never, ever touched that stuff. We have also been extremely transparent with what is in our products as well. We’ve made a chart to make it easier for everyone to understand.
You can clearly see from the graphic above what we use and do not use in our products. Not only do we already know vitamin E is dangerous, but we also think MCT oil is as well. There has been an influx of vape products that use MCT oil because it is “natural”. There is simply not enough information to determine if vaping MCT oil is safe.
“But you use PG/PEG.”
Yes, we use PG in 80% of our products. Why? Simply because it is the best product to use to make smooth, flavourful vapes that prevents separation of cannabinoids. PG has received some negative backlash online from the cannabis community and also because of the vaping crisis. So should you use our products that contain PG?
Let’s do the math. We will take a look at our most popular product, liquid shatter cartridges. This item has 0.65 ml of PG in it. The cartridge can last an average of 2 weeks to the recreational user and about 5 days for a medical user. I wanted to compare this to vaping e-cigs and how much juice they go through in a day. By doing a quick Google search for “how much do people vape per day,” I found this thread on a forum. Now, I understand that most people mix the vape juice with VG using specific ratios, but just by reading the first page, I see that people vape anywhere from 10 ml to 60 ml a day.
It doesn’t take a math wizard to see that this is a lot compared to vaping our cartridges. You would have to vape 15.38 cartridges in one day to match the lower end of 10 ml a day or the average e-cig vaper. Like anything in life, moderation is key.
